Report

Report:A competitive and enjoyable evening with some roller coaster elements. Bulls took an early lead with Manjit showing great court dominance and piercing shots into space against newcomer Dominic in his second ever team match. Great to see a new face on the scene. Bulls 1-0 up. Meanwhile on the other court Andrew was battling hard against Mark chasing everything down in all four corners, but unfortunately with too many shots into the tin from Andrew, Mark came through victorious in the 2 close games of the 3rd and 4th to level the playing field with the match 1-1 overall. Next up was Sam vs David, unfortunately the match started with Sam slipping in the front left after the first couple of points causing an Achilles injury, although he tried to battle on, the injury progressively got worse and had to concede the match in the 2nd game after still what was a hotly contested first game tie-breaker which teased the makings of a great match if it was completed, but wasn't meant to be and meant Flitwick went 2-1 up on the night. On the other court Pat was executing his usual methodical gameplan, placing the ball around the court with a low error count which worked well against Ben bringing a relatively comfortable win for the Irishman to bring Bulls back in with a chance to win the match at 2-2. This then left the deciding match to Ryan and Andy to thrash it out to deliver the goods for their respective team. Both players were up for it and you could see the determination in both their faces. Andy took an early lead taking advantage of Ryan trying to find his feet with his gameplan, going 1-0 up. Off court, Ryan reset himself, now settled in and ready to execute the plan. An early scare for Ryan with a tweak in his back, but he pushed through with the adrenaline and will power to bring home the win for the Bulls. A combination of low hard serves and attacking play on the backhand volley area kept the pressure on Andy and the intensity level high. 3 very close games that went in Ryan's favour meant that the 3-1 win completed the match with Bulls winning 3-2 overall on the night. A great match between the 2 clubs toing and froing throughout the night, with a full compliment at the meal afterwards to enjoy a drink or two together.
